Having just managed to get over the vagaries of the long return trip and having caught up on all personal and family matters back here in England I can now sit down and summarise our thoughts and comments about the whole trip that you planned and organised for us.
To begin with, the detailed itinerary you provided before we went to Australia and New Zealand was superb. It gave us an excellent idea of what was in store for us during our trip. The instructions and maps included left us in no doubt where we were going, when and how. Everything went like clockwork. We followed your instructions and got to everywhere we wanted to be and found our accommodation easily. Regarding all the various forms of transport planned by yourself and Paul there were no problems at all and we were left with a great deal of admiration for the way the whole trip had been organised.
We were so impressed, when we met you to discuss this whole venture earlier this year, and how much you had listened and noted our interests and then provided us with a bespoke itinerary. We were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed every day and the array of experiences you set up for us were fabulous. There were so many ‘wow’ moments and we kept thinking ‘it can’t get any better’ but it did!!!! On a personal note one of my favourite days was in Wanaka when the itinerary described that day as ‘At Leisure’. It gave us the opportunity to walk along the lakeside and reflect on where we had been and what we had seen so far.
Our bed and breakfast accommodation both in terms of location and comfort were all excellent, superbly chosen and very different. We so enjoyed meeting new people and were made to feel very welcome at all of the places. This added to our enjoyment as this enabled us to converse with our hosts or just sit on a balcony sipping wine and enjoy a sea/lake view. At Marahau Wally and Debs even invited us to share their evening meal with them as nothing was open locally for food until the following day when the ‘summer’ season was due to get under way. Please let all the hosts know that there was nothing with which we could be dissatisfied. On the contrary, we both felt so overwhelmed by the generosity of our hosts and the quality of the accommodation. Thank you for sorting that out for us.
Regarding the trips you organised for us, they were such fun, of great interest to us both and well worth the money. We have written individual reviews through Tripadvisor for some of the trips such as the walk in Abel Tasman National Park, Appellation Wine Tour from Kinross Cottages or the overnight trip on Doubtful Sound. I can honestly say we loved them all. We met fellow travellers, some more than once, particularly at Larnach Castle, the Wine Tour and Cruise on Doubtful Sound and some we have determined to keep in contact with once we returned home. There was a great variety in the experiences you planned for us and I am sure that, without your expertise, knowledge of New Zealand and attention to detail when planning a bespoke holiday for anyone, we would never have been able to plan and coordinate such as trip ourselves.
Would we go again? Without a doubt. Would we want to revisit some places? Yes. Would we like you to organise it? Yes. However, this may have to wait for a couple of years. Due to personal circumstances we would not be in a position to do a second trip soon. We also feel we would like to visit some parts of the North Island next time.
The holiday that you organised was a trip of a life time for Sue, who is fearful of flying and it has taken decades to persuade her to fly on long haul flights. The flights were not easy for her but the memories of the holiday make it all worthwhile. We cannot sing your praises enough. Everything you and Paul planned was wonderful. We are recommending you to all family and friends who express any interest in visiting New Zealand.
All that remains to be said is a huge thank you for planning this trip and to say it was perfect for us. Thank you!
