Taranaki
The Taranaki Region is reigned over by the mountain that the region was named for.
New Plymouth is located on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Egmont National Park and Taranaki, the dramatic snow capped volcanic cone that dominates the landscape here.
To reach/leave Taranaki an exceptional drive is the The Forgotten World Highway, which winds through rugged, beautiful countryside, passing through the Moki Tunnel, also know as 'Hobbits Hole'. This stunning road really is as off the beaten track as it sounds!
