Queenstown
Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of the world and has a stunning setting on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and overlooked by the mountains of The Remarkables.
Jet Boating is the ideal way to venture into the wilderness up shallow river systems that are not accessible to other craft and the river conditions are the best in New Zealand. Of course it goes without saying that Queenstown is the place to bungy jump although this is not compulsory!
There are some excellent day walks in the area including the track to the summit of Ben Lomond which rewards you with fabulous 360 degree mountain and lake views.
At a more relaxed pace, Queenstown also offers lake cruising, fine dining and great wine. Central Otago is the world's most southerly wine growing region producing top class Pinot Noir and there are numerous wineries in the area.
