Mitre Peak - Milford Sound
Whilst the drive is certain to impress, a cruise on Milford will take your breath away. Sheer sided mountains clad with waterfalls climb almost vertically from the sea, all dominated by the monolith of Mitre Peak that reaches nearly 1700m.
Joining an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound takes the Fiordland experience to another level. It is three times longer, ten times bigger and far more remote than Milford - you cannot make your own way there.
Once you have been escorted to Doubtful Sound over lake and by mountain road you quickly realise that you are in a special place. To stand on deck beneath more stars than you have ever seen listening to perfect, natural silence is a humbling, overwhelming and magical experience.
