Pen-y-bryn
At Pen-y-bryn (Welsh for "top of the hill"), your New Zealand owners and hosts Roy & Bernice Vannini delight in giving their warmest personal hospitality making Pen-y-bryn Lodge the perfect place to refresh, relax and unwind.

Guest Lounge
With just five elegantly appointed guestrooms each with modern ensuite facilities, the lodge accommodates a maximum of ten guests. Containing a plethora of architecturally handcrafted features, Pen-y-bryn was established in 1889 and is unique, from the grand fireplaces and bookcases to ornate gothic style leaded doors and windows, all of which contribute to an ambience of graciousness and elegance.
Evening dining is a highlight, when guests gather, warmed by blazing log fires, to savour first class table d'hôte cuisine. Guests are seated together at a large mahogany table where good conversation, great food and wine ensure your evening dining is a truly memorable occasion. Pen-y-bryn's resident chef changes the menu daily to reflect the seasons and features New Zealand classics such as lamb, venison, locally caught blue cod, West Coast whitebait and Mt Cook salmon. Local flavours are a highlight with an emphasis on locally grown (often organic), including lodge grown produce as well as Whitestone cheeses to tempt guests.

Elegantly furnished bedrooms
Pen-y-bryn lodge is the ideal place to simply relax, play snooker on the genuine slate table in the magnificent billiard room, curl up with a good book in the library or partake in a wide variety of outdoor activities - you can see both yellow and little blue penguins as they parade ashore each evening less than 5 minutes from the lodge.
