Masters Lodge
The Masters Lodge is a small luxury lodge positioned at the top of Bluff Hill with spectacular views over Hawke's Bay, Cape Kidnappers and the Art Deco City of Napier.

Overlooking Cape Kidnappers
This historic landmark residence was designed in the famed 'Australasian Bungalow' style of the late 1800s and subsequently expanded and retro-fitted in the 'Art Deco' style of the 1930s by one of New Zealand's most wealthy entrepreneurs, Johann Gerhard Husheer, founder and director of The National Tobacco Company of New Zealand, and famed New Zealand architect Louis Hay who also designed Napier's most famous Art Deco building, The National Tobacco Company Building.
The lodge features original Art Deco and Art Nouveau furnishings, a servant bell system and extensive leadlights throughout. The lodge also offers a living room & cocktail lounge, formal dining room, solarium with Sky TV, CDs, videos and laptop with wireless internet access. Outside, shady verandas overlook the beautifully maintained flower gardens in park-like grounds.

Lush tropical gardens
The lodge has only two guest suites which ensures a private and intimate stay. Named "Kidnappers" and "Deco", each suite reflects a major Hawke's Bay attraction and includes art deco furnishings, damask cotton bed linens, goose down duvets & pillows, walk-in wardrobes, original works of art, a Bose Wave music system, direct dial phone and modem port. Each ensuite bathroom offers a separate shower and original cast iron bathtub accompanied by natural Seascape toiletries, Bellora bathrobes and extra luxurious towels.
The lodges renowned gourmet dinners are prepared by their own chef and are complemented by rare local wines from the extensive wine cellar. The highlight for wine enthusiasts staying at the lodge is certainly the Dinner with the Winemaker. For the Art Deco enthusiast, an Art Deco Dinner can be arranged which includes a private tour of the Art Deco City in a vintage car, cocktails and a hosted dinner at the lodge with your personal expert in Art Deco architecture and design. You can also join the chef in the lodge kitchen for a personal culinary class. This is a "hands on" opportunity to actually help the Chef prepare your own meal while learning about New Zealand cuisine, Hawke's Bay meats, seafood and produce, and professional cooking techniques.
