Located right in the centre of Halfmoon Bay, Bay Motel is a new motel property on Stewart Island offering fantastic views of the bay and the bush-clad hills.

The motel is within easy walking distance of all local amenities including the supermarket, shops, restaurants, the pub and museum. It is also perfect for birdwatchers as the kakas, Stewart Island's parrots, have a flight path overhead!
Each unit has first class furnishings with top of the range queen and single beds and unrestricted individually controlled radiator heating. On those cooler days the heaters will be switched on prior to your arrival so rooms will be warm and cosy when you arrive and courtesy transfers from and to the ferry and plane terminals are provided.
Bay Motel
All units are fully self contained with cooking facilities, SKY television, telephone, electric blankets and complimentary tea & coffee. You can also bring your own laptop and stay in touch with family & friends from your unit by dial-up internet. The Honeymoon Suite with its spa bath is lovely and private and has the best view over the bay. There is even a complimentary bottle of wine for honeymooners.
Other facilities include a guest laundry and a barbeque in a sheltered courtyard. A supply of torches for those dark nights and umbrellas for the damper days are also available on request!
